Nance, F/0, INT 30 THE PIEDMONT POSTMAN Dear Sir: My son, my daughter, and I were booked for Flight No. 345 from Washington to my home city of Bluefield. We arrived at Washington Na tional Airport at approximately 2 p.m., fully an hour before our flight time. While the young man was checking us through, I remarked to my son that had I known we would be able to reach the terminal at the earlier hour, I would have sought ac commodations on Flight No. 11, one of your F-27’s. As your employee completed weighing us in, he said, “ . . . I overheard your comment regard ing our F-27 and I have arranged seats aboard it. If you don’t mind carrying your bag, you can go aboard at once. Flight No. 11 is ready to take off.” We were happy, and pleased to do so. I feel impelled to take this means of expressing my ap preciation for this courtesy. It was a simple act, done without fuss and fanfaire, but it was the kind of consideration a frequent traveler rarely receives these days. Of course, I failed to learn the young man’s name. May I, how ever, thank him through you. (Ed.—Agent was Jack Gallaher, DCA) Sincerely, C.R.A. Washington, D. C. * * * Dear Sir; Last Monday we were called to Lexington suddenly due to a death in our family. When my husband went to the desk to re confirm our return trip to Ashe ville, he mentioned that it was the first time in thirty-four years we had arrived in Lexing ton without a hotel reservation. The young man on duty at the time offered to phone for us and asked our first and second choice. After several phone calls he made a reservation for us at the Lafayette. We do not know his name, but he was so nice and thoughtful r ir Piedmont And Chemistry Help Meet A Deadline In-flight film processing on Flight 375 recent ly helped Roanoke Times photographers Howard Hammersley and Jack Gaking make their deadline after covering the Virginia-Duke game in Richmond. The pictures above tell the story: (1) Using a special light-tight chang ing bag, Gaking loads the 35mm film on reel as Flight Attendant Allen Kirk stands by to lend a hand; (2) Developer-fixer is poured over the film, processing it in six minutes; (3) Film is washed in aircraft lavatory and dried in a special chemical dryer; (4) Gaking and Kirk inspect completed negatives; (5) An action shot—sample of the finished product. I Photos by Howard Hammersley we would like to let you know and perhaps you can let him know how much his gracious courtesy meant to us at such a time. (Ed—Agent was Charles Clemmons, LEX) Sincerely, Mrs. A.B.H. Asheville, N. C. * * * Dear Sir; I would like to congratulate you on having such a nice per son as Charles Cranford as a steward on your flight from Charlotte to Louisville and re turn. The boy has a very pleasing personality and does an excellent job for Piedmont Airlines. We would recommend him heartily as a sales representative for Piedmont Airlines in contacting accounts. A person of this type is not going to be a steward for long with such a personality. We like this man very much and I am sure he could do an excellent job in the representa tion of your airline. Sincerely, E.C.W. Charlotte, N. C. * * Dear Sir;' I have flown your line several times between Richmond, Va., and Kenova, W. Va. I have al ways had good service and very prompt attention both on the ground and in the air from your line. Sincerely, W.B.R. Keesler AFB, Miss. * * * Dear Sir; I am a Brazilian boy, and I’m very enthusiastic in collecting post cards, photographs, badges, and pennants of air companies. Considering your organization of air transport is one of the best in the world. I would con sider it a great favor in asking you if you kindly send me some material on your large and mod ern planes. Sincerely, H.M., Sao Paulo, Brasil
