Well, again it was a pleasure to have dinner with the FAY
personnel, and Mr. Wooten you were a great host and “Twister.”
Also, we had a wonderful time at the BLF gathering, and it
was nice to meet so many wives — as a matter of fact, it is the
wives that make these parties such a success. How you “homely”
guys manage to get such attractive women. I’ll never know!! It
was nice to have Bill Grubbs and his wife with us from CRW.
Doug Gain and his gang at PHF put on a great spread. Sorry we
didn’t get to join the ILM bunch, but Hurricane Ella scared us
away.
Tom Cowen and his family have now settled in INT assum
ing his new duties as Director-Reservations and Ticketing Services.
This brings us to the announcement of his successor—W. C. Clark,
■“•“■I***; of Division
Station Supervisor, being based at TRI, which has been added to
his Division. This does not affect the local management at TRI
in any way. Don Shanks, now Manager at BAL, will assume the
duties as Station Manager—DCA. The BAL Manager has not been
assigned as of this publication.
You will note the October 28 schedule has some very lengthy
ground times built in about the middle of the trips. They were put
in to assist the trips in maintaining better on-time performance in
terminating — let’s use it for this purpose. If you have a twenty-
five minute stop and the flight is fifteen minutes late arriving,
get it out in ten minutes or on time. We feel this “cushion” will
assist greatly in our on-time performance if it is used properly by
the stations.

THE PIEDMONT POSTMAN
Dear Sir:
Per your request, I am detail
ing the cost of the supplies I
needed when my luggage was
misplaced ... I want to express
my appreciation to you and your
staff for locating my luggage
after I called you . . . However,
I do have one complaint as a cus
tomer of your airline. I don’t
feel that my lost luggage was
put on a high enough priority.
It was lost for almost 30 hours
and was actually located in Pied
mont Airlines’ possession. This
means (to me) that the emphasis
to locate my luggage must have
been routine, even though it was
lost over 30 hours.
Sincerely,
G.L.R.
Cincinnati
Dear Sir:
I want to take this moment to
pass along a favorable comment
regarding one of your people in
the Washington office.
On Labor Day evening your
Mr. James H. Glenn was of in
valuable assistance to me in re-
solving some transportation
problems. Without his kind and
favorable assistance, I would
have been in rather a mess.
I want you to know that I ap
preciate Mr. Glenn’s help, par
ticularly since I have had oc
casion to comment unfavorably
to you in the past regarding the
general performance of many
of your ground personnel.
The fact that your schedule
performance is positively abom
inable is, I am sure, no news to
you. The general performance of
your ground personnel continues
to be indifferent to the point of
rudeness, and I might add both
of the aforementioned are sub
jects of general discussion
among your customers. It might
be well for your management
team to do something about the
matter.
In the face of this, Mr. Glenn’s
performance tends to assume
even greater proportions. He will
do much to sell Piedmont serv
ices while others fail.
Sincerely,
R.D.R.

Dear Sir:
This is a note of appreciation
for help given me on a trip
which I took on August 21. Men
