The famous author, in Winston-Salem for a talk at Wake Forest College, said that writing was partly luck, partly talent, and a great deal of hard work. He stated, “I start with a story ... a good plot. Any message is incidental." The author also predicted a swing from the "tour letter" novels of today to good old rousing story telling.
