Davis told the shareholders that the 1969 loss of $1,856,616 was primarily caused by the 30-day strike called by the Air Line Pilots Association during the peak traffic season of the year. In a meeting of the board of directors following the annual meeting, the company’s directors elected Audree Long, formerly assistant controller, to controller of the Company. The following officers were re-elected: T. H. Davis, president and treasurer; C. G. Brown, Jr., H. K. Saunders, R. A. H. GALLOWAY New Director S. Northington, senior vice presi dents; T. W. He pointed out that Piedmont now has a fleet of all jet-powered aircraft available to meet the requirements of an ex panded route system and antici pated traffic growth, and that re cent favorable changes in fare yields will mean substantially in creased revenues. Davis said that monthly in creases during the first quarter in revenue passenger miles flown and revenue passengers carried have been “encouraging”, adding that they have been slightly above origi nal forecasts for this historically “soft” period of the year.
