MAY/JUNE, 1972 THE PIEDMONITOR PAGE FIVE Long Lines The North Carolina Eye and Human Tissue Bank recently presented Piedmont Airlines’ station personnel with a plaque in appreciation of the Company’s contribution to their work over the past several years. The award, pre sented at the North Carolina Lions Convention, was accepted on the Company’s behalf by Winston-Salem Station Manager Jack Brandon. On May 25th Piedmont’s fleet of 13 Boeing 737 aircraft was 100 per cent smokeless. The Company’s completion of installation of the new engine burner cans was accomplished well- ahead of the required timetable. Piedmont is one of the first airlines in the country to have completed the modification of its entire jet fleet. * * ❖ In concurrence with recent Congressional legislation on Occupational Safety and Health and the ever increasing need for full-time, effective, safety direction the Company is ex panding and strengthening its corporate safety program. W. V. Foster has been named Acting Di rector of Corporate Safety. He now reports to J. E. Bradley, Assistant Vice President — Industrial Relations. A detailed study is currently being made of the new federal regulations and how they apply to our various Company functions. The results of this study will be used to formulate guide lines for the personnel who will be appointed to coordinate the Company’s safety activities. As part of its Customer Services Program, Fayetteville selects an “outstanding agent” every other month. Their most recent honoree is J. P. Watkins who is currently working in FAY’S air freight area. Watkins has been with Piedmont for the past three years. Those folks in Fayetteville are also very prolific essay writers. They had a contest not long ago to see who could write the best essay based on what they as individuals have done to pro mote better customer services and relations. This contest was won by C. S. Melvin, lead agent in operations. Melvin has been with Piedmont for 16 years. A newly created position in the Sales De partment was recently announced by Assistant Vice President Sheri Folger. He named former Atlanta District Sales Manager Don Edmond son to fill the post of Manager-Agency and f m cRo IF THESE EXPRESSIONS ARE ANY INDICATION of the success of the recent anniversary celebration at the Central Res Office, it couldn't have been better! Open House was held in honor of the CRO's first Group Sales. Edmondson, who assumed his new duties on June 1, is now located at the home office in LIONEL ANDERS DON EDMONDSON Winston-Salem. He became a Sales Rep in 1950 and transferred to Roanoke. During later years he worked at Camp Lejeune, Tri-Cities and Charlotte before moving to Atlanta to open that city for Piedmont’s first service in 1962. A native of Wilmington, Edmondson attend ed the University of North Carolina. He is married to the former Martha Fleming of Greensboro. They have two daughters. He is a member of the Aviation Committee of the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia State Chamber of Commerce, the Atlanta Con vention Bureau, the Atlanta Airline Sales Man agers Association, Sales and Marketing Execu tives International, Skal International and the National Defense Transportation Association. He is also on the Board of Deacons of the Ben Hill Presbyterian Church. Lionel Anders has become District Sales Manager for Atlanta since Edmondson’s move to Winston. Anders, who held the same posi tion in Memphis, is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas. He joined the Company as a Utility Agent in Roanoke in 1953. He subsequently served as Lead and Chief Agent there before transferring to the Sales Department in 1962 when he was named Roanoke City Sales Man ager. His promotion to District Manager for Memphis came in 1968. Mrs. Anders is the former Jean Brillhart of Roanoke. They have three sons and a daughter. ^ * Director — Flight Services H. L. Warner has announced four new supervisory promo tions within his department. J. Carolyn Hollar, formerly a stewardess at Roanoke, has been named Division Chief Flight Attendant for Washington. Pamela S. Horton is the new Flight Attendant Supervisor assigned to Winston-Salem, she was based in Norfolk. Former Winston based stewardess Sandra B. Moss has been promoted to Flight Attendant Supervisor for Atlanta. Wilmington’s new Flight Attendant Supervisor is Elaine K. Faulkner who was based in Roanoke. ♦ * * The Company is planning to send a two- man team to the World Airlines Golf Tourna ment. To select the team there will be a 36 hole qualifying round held at the Tanglewood Golf Course at Clemmons, N. C., just outside of Winston-Salem, on July 13-14. All those in terested in entering should report in front of the Tanglewood Clubhouse at 9:00 a.m. on July 13th. The two low scorers will qualify.
