page four PIEDMONITOR January/February/March, 1974 Long Lines Since Piedmont’s long lines is one of, if not the most successful of our modes of communication, we thought a column by the same name might be a good way of mentioning some of the small, but newsy things of interest that go on around the system. Any contributions you might have will be more than welcome. Address them to the Editor, Piedmonitor, INT-ZY. Crew members promoted Several promotions of crew members have been announced recently. Capt. G. F. Sharp has assumed the duties of Division Chief Pilot at Knoxville, replacing Capt. R. R. Brown who returned to line flying. Elaine K. Faulk ner, who had been Flight Attendant Supervisor in Wilmington, is now Division Chief Flight Attendant for Norfolk and Knoxville. She maintains her office in Norfolk. Elaine replaced Trula Kirkpatrick Scott who requested re assignment as a stewardess in Atlanta. Former Atlanta stewardess Margaret L. Jenkins was named Flight Attendant Supervisor for Wil mington. Skier takes trophy Washington Flight Attendant Kay McDonald is a champion skier. She won the first place trophy in the woman’s intermediate division of the National Amateur Race for members of the Ski Club of Washington, D. C. There were 40 entries for the race over the Slalom Course at the Hunter Mountain, New York ski area. Kay says she’d like to enter the annual airline ski races next year at Mt. Aleyeska, Alaska. Piedmonitor honored The Piedmonitor won the second place award for the Best Regional Airline Publication at the annual Airline Editor’s Conference. The evalua tion of airline publications is a regular feature of the Air Transport Association’s airline editors meeting. This year’s judging was con ducted by the University of Missouri’s School of Journalism. Both trunk and regional airline publications were submitted as well as those of a number of foreign carriers. First place in the best regional category went to North Central’s Northliner. Hughes Airwest took the third place award. Pan Am ’73 was selected as the best trunk publication and the best overall award went to Eastern’s Falcon. Credit union changes The board of directors of the Credit Union recently honored H. K. Scott who has just retired as president. They gave Scott a plaque in recognition of his outstanding service. A member of the credit union board since 1966, Scott served as secretary and vice president be fore being named two years ago. Actually a charter member of the Credit Union, Scott joined in December, 1949. He was the 16th member. Although no longer on the board, Scott will continue to serve as a volunteer on the supervisory committee. The new president of the Credit Union is Audree F. Long who was elected to the board at this year’s meeting. Other new members of the board are Horace P. Chatham, Lewis H. Hand and Robert W. Kadlec. The other members of the board are Wilma Cook, Lucien Wrenn and George Price. To serve with Long, the board named Wrenn first vice president, Kadlec, second vice president and Mrs. Cook, secretary. H. K. Scott shines the new boat he hopes to have more time for since his retirement as Credit Union president. Local league elects Shanks Don Shanks has been elected to the board of directors of the Winston-Salem Urban League. Shanks, who is Assistant Vice Presi dent — Customer Services, will work with the national organization in the field of human rights. The local group is concerned primarily with job placement of minority applicants. 1 The flight attendant seniority list was increased nearly eight per cent with the addition of the most recent graduates.
