Not only do 1 have the honor of attending this banquet, but the day also marks the beginning of our ‘Omaha Project,' ” President Bill Howard said. “We put together a wholly new intrastate network of service for Florida, and today began this ex pansion, the largest expansion ever in the history of the Compa ny. And on our first day, we had a near-perfect operation, thanks to employees like you doing yourjob." Howard made these remarks at the eighth annual service pin ban quet held October 1 at the Benton Convention Center in Winston- Salem, Three hundred and eighty-nine people were honored, including 51 retirees, 194 with 15 years of service, 89 with 20 years, 40 with 25 years, 49 with 30 years, 14 with 35 years, two with 40, and one person who has been with the Company for 45 years. “Our growth has presented many challenges and you have met these challenges through the years. With your help, we’re going to continue to expand and grow and run an airline you can be proud of,” Howard said. “Thank you very, very much for all you continue to do for Piedmont.” During the program, Howard presented Eddie Culler, assistant vice president-aircraft services, with his 45-year pin, only the sec ond to be earned. (See related story.) TH. Davis, Piedmont's founder, received his pin from the board of directors last spring. In addition, L.J. Lambert, Pur chasing, INT, and Robbie Robbins, Maintenance, INT, were recognized for 40 years of service. Don Shanks, vice president- customer relations, and master of ceremonies for the evening pointed out in his remarks that “We — the employees — have been fortunate these past 45 years to have two great chief executive officers, Tom Davis and Bill Howard. Their foresight, their visions of the future, their wisdom, and their great ability to make very difficult — but proper — decisions has had tremendous impact on the future of Piedmont and, thus, a tremendous impact on your and my future and our families’ future,” He added, “But these gentle men will quickly tell you that at Piedmont, our employees have made the difference between suc cess and failure, and that has never been more true than it is to day. The employees of Piedmont have made the difference,” Judy Ihyloe, Scheduling-IN'r. and her husband Johnnie 'Riyloe. Reservations- Madison Park, both celebrated 15 years of service with Piedmont.
