Piedmont's first flight. February 20, 1948, began at Wilmington with stops at Pine-
hurst, Charlotte, Asheville, TYi-Cities, and Lexington before terminating at Cincinnati.
Piedmont's first 737-200 arrived in May 1968, and went into service July 1. 1968.
(Oops! In our brochure “Facts and Figures,” the date given is April 9, 1968. Because

As of February 15, 1987, we have 40 CTOs (city ticket offices) around our system.
Piedmont first boarded a million passengers in a year in 1964 when the airline car
ried 1,078,028.
At the end of 1986, 237 aircraft were flying Piedmont’s colors. On December 31, Pied
mont had 160 aircraft; Henson, 31 aircraft; Jetstream, 13; CCAir, 20; and Brockway, 13.
