Colodny challenges employees to be a winner together "We must keep our employee family se cure and feeling good about the organiza tion." USAir Chairman and President Ed Colodny told the more than 1.000 Pied mont employees and guests in his re marks at the service awards banquet. Colodny recognized Piedmont founder and Chairman Emeritus Tbm Davis who was present at the dinner, “Tbm. I can only say that none of this would have been possible without the great tradition you conceived and was carried out by the great Piedmont team." In addition, "you in this room who've been with Piedmont for 30 years or more made this all hap pen, because you started an organization which was a survivor." On the upcoming merger of Piedmont and USAir, Colodny told the group, "Both companies have been winners separately, and now we are challenged to be a winner together. "It’s important that we do not lose sight of certain fundamentals." Colodny con tinued. "We're a service business—the customer has choices—and we cannot af ford to lose the loyalty that has been built up over the years by each of you with the Piedmont consumer." Further, the success of the merger "really rests on your shoulders. It’s how well all of you and your counterparts manage the process." In closing, Colodny said. "Tbnight, I’ve had the privilege of observing the Pied mont spirit first-hand, as I have on many prior occasions, but never have I seen it in such great quantity and enthusiasm as I’ve seen it tonight. . .Congratulations to each of you who are being honored."
