Merger concerns, USAir’s future addressed during 10-station tour A series of merger-update meetings held with Chairman and President Ed Coiodny, as well as other senior Piedmont and USAir officers, at 10 major Piedmont stations will conclude February 14 in Norfolk. Already, reactions from Piedmont employees indicate that the meetings were constructive, informative, and well received by the thousands of em ployees who attended the 45 meetings scheduled. Coiodny conducted meetings at Charlotte, BWI, Dayton, and Winston- Salem. As many as four meetings a day, starting January 30 in Winston- Salem, were conducted for the various employee groups at each of the 10 stations visited. At INT, some 2,300 headquarters-city employees attended the four sessions. The meetings were held to address the unique concerns Piedmont employees have about the merger and provide insight into the direction the combined company will go following integration on August 5,1989. How ever, most employees agreed that the highlight of the meetings was the question-and-answer period that followed the general remarks. “He had the answers for most ques tions and didn’t side-step,” said Wayne Continued on page 4
