USAir Express chosen as new name
for USAir Group regional carriers
USAir Express will be the new marketing name for service provided
by regional airlines either owned by USAir Group or operating under
contract with Group subsidiaries USAir and Piedmont. It will replace
the name Allegheny Commuter effective July 1,1989. Regional airlines
providing service for Piedmont will undergo the name change when
Piedmont and USAir merge on August 5.

reach a $1 billion agreement for
aircraft engines
The first flights under the Allegheny
Commuter banner began November
15,1967, between Hagerstown and
Baltimore, and were operated by
Henson Aviation, today a wholly-
owned subsidiary of USAir Group.
The concept was born of a need to
provide quality air service to smaller
communities at the same time USAir
was growing into the jet age.

industry standard of code-sharing
relationships between regional
