Piedmont Frequent Flyers now USAir Frequent Travelers Continued from page 1 Members of the Frequent Traveler program accumulate miles every time they fly on USAir and Piedmont. The company keeps track of those miles on a now-consolidated data base. The com puter stores the history of each program member including their ad dress, current mileage balance, and related information. When a member reaches a certain mileage level, they become eligible to receive a corresponding award. It might be a certificate for a free round- trip coach-class ticket in North Amer ica, plus hotel and rental car (at the 20.000 mileage level), or it could be a free round trip ticket on the British Airways Concorde to London (at 150.000 miles). They fill out the award request form on the back of their monthly statement. And within two weeks, in most cases, the members receive award certificates. To make the Frequent Traveler FVogram attractive to prospective members and current members, the USAir marketing staff constantly considers ways to improve the pro gram. One way is by bringing in new airline, hotel or car rental partners. Another way is to provide enhanced awards through existing partners. Swissair, the newest partner, will join the USAir Frequent Traveler Program. Mileage will be credited to the USAir Frequent Traveler’s account based on the type of ticket used. Beginning July 1, USAir frequent travelers members will receive one free roundtrip off-peak ticket from a North American gateway to Switzerland when they reach the 50,000 mileage award level. At the highest award level, frequent travelers will be able to earn one free first-class ticket to Switzerland. These awards also entide the frequent traveler to a free USAir/Piedmont roundtrip ticket for connections at Swissair’s North American gateway cities.
