It was about 9 o’clock at night when I carae through "Buck Horn Gap" seated in a vehicle call ed a "hack" drawn by two mules. I was accompanied by my mother, sister and brother Richard, then about three and one-half years of age. My father, having a business to attend to in the Morth did not join us until November, six months later. V/e spent the night on East Main Street at the home of Mr. and Mrs. (Con*t. page 3) SPACE PARTY AT BUD HALL'S Last Friday night, Highlands was visited by a group of strange tour ists who must have been far off their normal routes. They were representatives of our Solar Sys tem and particularly Saturn, Mars, Pluto and the Moon. Leading the visitors vras a local exponent of (Con't. page 5) "POPS CONCERT” Highlands School Auditorium will again be turned into a concert hall Saturday evening at eight-thirty o’clock when the Transylvania Fac ulty Orchestra returns for a fine program of music. Sandra V/arfield, contralto of the Metropolitan Opera will appear as soloist with the orchestra.There are artisits from the Philharmonic Symphony, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Chicago, New York and Charlotte. The orchestra is being brought to Highlands in a benefit per formance for the Highlands Community Hospital. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MEETS The Highlands Community Hospi tal Auxiliary met last Thursday at the Satulah Club Room. Mrs. Howe gave a report of the bazaar which was held Saturday July 11 at the Center.She reported $1,^99*93 taken in plus $200.10 in donations and the auxiliary voted to give the hospital $1,500.00 and hold the ba lance as working capital.
