month from now, Highlands will stage
its 3rd "Hillbilly Day” and this
splendid idea which has afforded all
of us so much enjoyment and helped
us to meet and know better our
fellow neighbor in addition to giv
ing Highlands some well-earned and
nationwide recognition will be an
annual event, and we hCpe to make
each successive year a greater
success.
We have not in the past and do
not want in the future to charge
for our wonderful barbeque, nor any
of the other events-including the
evening dance jamboree, and the ex
pense involved to launch these
many and varied events as you can
well appreciate is considerable.
If ail of us can together put
our shoulders to the wheel, th® load
will be heavy for none, with full
enjoyment for all—young and old
alike.

BREVARD MUSIC CAMP
Eleanor Spencer, pianist, will
appear as featured soloist in the
Sunday afternoon concert at Trans
ylvania Music Camp, Miss Spencer
will perform the Schumann Concerto
in A minor for Piano and Orchestra
with the Transylvania Symphony Or
chestra under the baton of James
Christian Pfohl.
Friday night, July 9^ the Trans
ylvania Concert Band will be heard
under the direction of Paul Bryan,
in a concert at 8slJ.
Miss Spencer, during her dis
tinguished international career as
a concert pianist, has played with
almost every major orchestra and
under most of the world’s great
conductors.

RHAPSODY
Elizabeth Taylor in a vibrant love
story is the attraction offered at
the Galax Theatre Thurs, and Fri.,
July 8-9, in "RHAPSODY", M-G-M Tech
nicolor drama co-starring Vittorio
Gassman, John Ericson and Louis Cal-
hern. Outstanding features of Rhap
sody are the magnificent music and
the colorful locales.
Mr, and Mrs, E.B. Drew and fam
ily and Dr, and Mrs. S,H. Haddock
and Nan of Anderson, S,C. are
spending a week in the Glenn cot
tage on the Franklin road.
Major and Mrs. Paul Chmat and
small sons, Mark and Todd, spent
several days here last week en
route to Ocean Drive, S.C, where
they will spend several weeks.
Major Chmar has just graduated Jth
in a class of six hundred from

Mr. Nelson Trevander of Chicago,
111. spent several days here at
the Paxton House visiting friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie A. Smith,
formerely of Ithaca, N.Y., are
spending several months here with
Mrs, Smith’s mother, Mrs. T.M,
Keener. Mrs. Smith is the former
Miss Jenny Keener.
Mrs. Carrie Goodman, Miss
Zimmerman, Miss Norma Madden, Bob
Spangenburg and Mr, and Mrs, Jim
Barnes of Clems on', S.C. spent the
week-end with Mr. and Mrs. W. E.
McGuire.
