QUESTIONS REGARDING LOCAL HOSPITAL
VJho really owns the Highlands Community
Hospital?
Ans.: The ownership of the bviilding, land
and all equipment is in the name of the
Highlands Coimnunity Hospital, Inc,, a non
profit corporation. This corporation was
set up when the land on which the hospital
is built ims transferred to us, (Board of
Trustees). The corporation, as indicated
above, is a non-profit one, chartered under
the laws of North Carolina. It has a self
perpetuating Board of Trustees, many of
v;hom were named at the time the project was
started. The corporation was set up to pro>
vidB Highlands coismunity with the proper med
ical and hospital facilities. No Trustee is

iAl^^D GARDEI^ TOURS ANNOUNCED

A Parade of Stars, the theme of the
1955 Highlands Flowere Show, illustrate ap
propriately one of the highlights of a
summer on our mountain plateau. The pro
fusion of dahlia gardens, wildflower nooks,
formal evergreens and colorful plantings
grovnfor cut bouquets all generously star
our hillsides and fonii a prominent part of
our landscape.
From the colorful gardens of the simple
mountain hemes as well as from the more
formal estates come the flower stars v^ich
will make up the 1955 Flower Show to be
held in the school auditorium on August 13
and 14. Any and all are more than welcome
to enter their exhibits.
A imique feature of this year’s show
will be a class for mantlepiece arrangementa,

CONCERT TO BE GIVEN
Again Highlands will have the privi
lege of enjoying an evening of orchestral
music. The Faculty and staff Orchestra of
Transylvania Music Camp will give a con
cert on Saturday, July 23rd, in the school
auditorium, at & p.m. James Christian
Pfohl will conduct and Evelyn McGarrity
will be soprano soloist. The program will
present classical and popular numbers.
Highlands is indeed fortunate to be lo
cated near the Brerard Music Center, how
ever, it is a long trip for the: musicians
for an evening’s performance. So everyone
should be present at the concert to show
their appreciation for the cooperation of
these musicians as a benefit of the
