DAVID BROWN RECEIVES DEGREE David Brown, son of Mr, and Mrs, W,R, Brov/n of Highlands and DLllard, Ga,, received his bachelor degree in industrial engineering on June 9th from Georgia Tech, He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, secretary of the American Institution of Industrial Engineering, and a member of the Society for the Advance ment of Management, David, who has previously spent his summers in Highlands, is now employed by Gainesville Mills in Gainesville, Ga, HAVE YOU noticed all the people up town eating a Tastee-JVeez? ATTEND CONVENTION Approximately one hundred members of the South Carolina Chapter of the Institu tion of Architecture attended a convention last jF^iday and Saturday at the Highlands Country Club, Special guests at the con vention were members of the Association of General Contractors, Officers of the South Carolina Chap ter of the Institution of Architecture are: Robert Upshur of Columbia, S*C,, president; Louis Wolf of Columbia, vice- president; and Frank Mitchell of Charles ton, S,C,,secretary-treasurer. REUX AT THE GALAX THEATPJE- SILVER TEA ENJOYED The Silver Tea presented by the High lands Garden Club, at the home of Mr, and 1-lrs, A,T, Carter on Flat Mountain, for the benefit of the Elizabethan Garden, last Tnursday, was enjoyed by a very rep resentative group. The appointments were very beautifully arranged, and many of the guests were enthralled by the pano ramic view obtained from the spacious living room windows and terrace. African violets (Mrs, Carter's pet hobby) were in profusion everywhere, as well as many other beautifiil flowers. Miss Dorothea Harbison, Mrs, Charles Quinn and Mrs, John Perry presided, in turn, over the punch bowl. The presence of quite a number of out- of-town Garden Club members was appreci ated.
