GALAX NEWS TO START SOON
We are happy to announce that plans
have been made for publishing the Galax
News agsiin this summer. The first issue
of this season will be published Thurs
day, June 20th« The paper will be pub^
lished each Ihursday thereafter for
eleven weeks, ending August 29th* This
will be the sixth consecutive season of
the Galax News*
This mimeographed paper is publish
ed by the Galax Theatre which is owned
and managed by O.F* Summer*
EDITOR
Mrs* Lois Potts Keener will serve
as editor of the Galax News this sxammer*
She is a graduate of Highlands High
School and has held the position of
secretary to the principal of Highlands
School diiring the past school year.
Assisting Mrs« Keener will be Miss
Joanne Dendy who will be a senior in
Highlands High School this fall*

GETnNG READY
Highlands is again putting on the
summer "spiritCars from Florida,
Georgia, South Carolina, etc., have put
in their appearance* Summer residents
are arriving to open their homes for the
new season, making necessary repairs, and
otherwise getting ready to enjoy another
summer where it is air conditioned by
nature*
Business places in town are also
making ready their places of busi
ness for the new season* Several new
btiildings have been built since last
summer, others have been enlarged or re
paired, and new equipment has been in
stalled, in order to better serve the
public.
For the past five years the Galax
News has been edited by the former Miss
Mary Summer, now Mrs# J*W« Norman* This
summer she is living in Cullowhee, N.C.
where her husband is a senior at Western
Carolina College*
The Galax News office will be at its
previous location, the 0*F* Summer home,
where all work on the paper is done* The
