REBECCA S. HARRIS TRACT OF LAND
BOUGHT FOR DEVELOPMENT
The Rebecca S. Harris tract of land
which amounts to approximately 100 acres
has been purchased by Frank H. Potts, W.W*
Edwards, Roy Potts, and Steve Potts* The
actual purchase was completed several
weeks ago* Che corner of this acreage
lies at Main Street and Fifth Street just
beyond the Highlands Presbyterian Church*
Ihe property extends back to the foot of
Sunset rocks*
Ihis land was bought from Miss Re
becca S. Harris and included in the deal
is Kanonah, a well known place.
Ihis property was purchased for the
purpose of a subdivision. This develop
ment has been named "Sunset Hills”.
Streets are being opened up into the
property and lots have been surveyed, so
that they can be offered for sale* It
is in the plans to rebuild the lake which
was formerly on the property.
FORMAL OPENING OF BIOLOGICAL STATION
Ihis week-end will be a busy one
for the Biological Station as it is the
formal opening of the thirty-first ses
sion and will include the formal opening
on Fridey evening, anniial meeting of the
board of mejiagers, the Annuel Meeting of
the Board of Trustees and the Dedication
of the New Buildings*
At 8:00 p*m. at the Museum Building
on Friday, Jiane 27, Dr. Stanley A. Cain
will lecture on ”Ihe Role of The Biolog
ical Station”* He is professor of bot

At the regular meeting of the High
lands Rotary Club on Tuesday evening, at .

1958-59• They are: Richard Harrison,

There were about forty five members
and visitors present at the meeting.
