The final performance of Noel Cow
ard’s Blithe Spirit was a marvelous ex
ample of the superlative ability, excep
tional presence of mind, and down-right
genius that has been lurking in the High
lands Community Theatre, ready to bubble
out at the drop of a cue* Friday night’s
trying experiences put these assets, la
tent as well as patent, to the test; and
the theatre’s cast and crew come through
so beautifully and professionally that
the audience had no realization that
anything was amiss*
The Thespian Demon began his pranks
by smiting Judy Oudshoff (who played
Elvira, the blithe spirit) with a case of

ROTARY WORKS FOR
INTERNATIONAL UNDERSTANDING
Rotary clubs in 110 countries and
geographical regions throughout the world
are united in an endeavor to promote in
ternational understanding, good will and
peace* That was the message of Gordon L*
Butler of Andrews, governor of district
767 of Rotary International, in address
ing the Rotary Club of Highlands on Tues
day night, following a conference with
local Rotary officers and committee chair
man*
In addition to the activities of the
more than 9|800 Rotary clubs within their
own communities to promote this objective,
Mr* Butler explained, Rotary International
has awarded grants of more then |2,600,000
in the past 11 years through its program
of student fellowships, which enable out
standing college graduates to study for
