GARDEN TOURS
The fifth annual Garden Tours, spon
sored by the Highlands Garden Club, are
scheduled for Friday, August 8th, and Sa
turday, August 9th, Ihere are two tours:
Tour A, on Friday and Saturday mornings;
Tour B, on Friday and Satwday afternoons*
Transportation will be furnished for all
tours* Cars w^ll leave from the Highlands
Methodist Chiirch for Tour A, from 10:00
to 10:30 A#M#, and for Tour B, from 2:00
to 2:30 P#M* Tickets are $2.00 per tour,
and may be obtained at any of the hotels
or immediately before each tour at the
Methodist Church*
The opening of many of Highlands fin
est homes and gardens for these tours is
always a highlight of the summer season*
An interesting variety is provided this

NEWS FROM CAMP HIGHLANDER
On June 18, 1958 Camp HigWander of
ficially opened for the first time* The
new boys arriving were picked up at the
train station in Toccoa, Georgia, and a
sight seeing trip on the way back to camp
was arranged* Included were Tallulah
Gorge, a picnic lunch at Stuckey's, a view
of the wooden tressle used in the filming
of the "Great Locomotive Chase'* at Clayton,
the waterfall at Dillard^ fhe Blue Valley
Vista, a look at Brush Mountain (the comp)
from the highway as it rises to an eleva
tion of 4>200 feet, and last but not least,
a close T^ew of the flag waving in the
breeze on top of the look-out tower on top
of the mountain# Following the motor trip
to camp, the boys were taken on a tour of
the camp which included the Recreation

ROTARY NEWS
At the Rotary meeting on Tuesday
evening at Hotel Edwards Mr. Bill Caye was
speaker and gave an interesting talk about
the hospital fund raising drive for the
next four weeks. He told of the necessity
and advantages of having a hospital in
Highlands.
There were approximately 62 present
for the meeting, 47 of which were visiting
Rotarions. _
