«THE DRUNKARD" OPENS

At 8:30 last night, the curtains of
the Highlands Coianunity Iheatre parted
to reveal on hour of old-fashioned melo-
droma, the likes of which few in the
audience had ever seen* The audience
caught the spirit immediately and hissed
the villain, cheered the hero, and sighed
at the plight of the heroine.
The noble recipients of these voca
tive acclamations were Greta Dear, hero
ine; Bill Raoul, hero| Nick Hodsdon,
villain; and Jack Neel, drunkard. The
supporting cast consisted of Beverly
Fitspatrick, mother) Skip Willaims,
amorous old maid; Paulene Mel vine, da^unk-
ord*s daughter; Rebecca Johnston, noble
philanthropist; and Kathy Reynolds, half

MUSIC FESTIVAL
Three concerts are sched\iled for
music lovers at Highlands on Monday, Aug«»
ust 11 and Tuesday, August 12 when the
orchestra of the Brevard Music Center
will be heard at the school auditorium
in Highlands#
These three concerts will constitute
the initial programs of the Highlands
Music Festival Association#
James Christian Pfohl, founder and
director of the Brevard Music Center will
conduct all three concerts* In addition
to Monday and Tuesday evening concerts,
there will ba a Tuesday afternoon concert
programmed as a youth concert* This
afternoon concert tho primarily designed
for young people should prove delightfully
informative for all ages#

HDSPIT/IL FUND DRIVE
The Highlands Hospital Association
began a four weeks fund raising campaign
last week to raise needed funds for the
Highlands ComQunity Hospital. The office
for this drive is conveniently located
in the Mitchell Building and the phone
number is 5710.
