At the weekly Rotary Club meeting
Tuesday night, Mr* D.C* Dawkins of Jacki*
sonville, Pla* and Highlands gave a very
interesting talk and showed slides on
his tour tc Japan, Korea, Hawaii and the
Philippines» Mr« Dawkins went on this
tour as a Methodist Layman to observe
what was done in these places in the
Religious way*
The two men written up in the
Rotary Bulletin this week were Mr*
Vernon and Mr# Horace H* Williamson#
Ihere were around 50 Rotarians who
attended this meeting#

The thirteenth Annual Musical by
the colored people of Highlands will be
given on Aiigust 30, at 6i00 p#m# in the
Highlands High School auditorium# The
proceeds from this J&isioal will benefit
the lEghlands Community Hospital, and
the Methodist Church of Highlands# Re^
serve the date and plan to attend this
program#
music FESTIVPL SUCCESS
Over six-hundred people tlironged to
the Mghlands High School Auditorium on
Monday evening for the opening perfor
mance of the Brevard Misio Center Orch
estra, featuring Miss Beverly Wolff,
contralto, as soloist# !Bie same was
true for the concert on Tuesday evening
when Joan Field, violin, was featured#
The program both nights was a mar
velous success in every way# Such ex^
pressions as ^perfectly delightful” were
heard many times#
Ifrs* Murdock Equen, President of the
Misic Festival Association, wishes to
remind everyone of the dates August 24
and August 25 when the Orchestra will
return for concerts#
Highlands is indeed fortunate to
have this outstanding group perform as
an event here*

FUND DRIVE
The Finance Committee of the Board
of Trustees of the Highlands Community
Hospital has expressed itself as being
genuinely grateful by the progress the
Campaign for funds has made this week*
Mr. Lester Dawley, Chairman of the Fund
Drive, reports that the response is en
couraging* ”The increase not only in
the amo\mt given but in the depth and sin
cerity of interest and sense of responsi
bility for this greatly needed institu
tion”, said Mr. Dawley,
The next few weeks are critical ©nes
in determining whether adequate funds will
be raised to accomplish the reconstruction
of the physical plant of the hospital so
that it may comply vdth the lisceseliig
agencies of the state* The first step in
this qualification will be the creation
