hold a preaching mission from July 4th
through July 8th, Dr. Pierce Harris and
Dr. Charles L. Allen of Atlanta, Georgia
will preach each evening. The services
will be at 8:00 p,m. Many people in Wes
tern North Carolina will want to attend
these special services, which have be
come an annual event in Highlands.

The Highlands Garden Club met Thur
sday, June 16, at the home of Miss Helen
Augur, At this meeting Mrs. Dale, Con
servation Chairman, spoke of the plight
of'the albatross on Sand Island in the
Midway group where one fourth of the re
maining albatross live. She said that
the Navy was trying to work out a solu
tion that would give them use of the is
land without having to kill off the al
batross.
The great improvement of the ceme
tery grounds was commented on and it
was voted to send a check for $50 to the

end.
On Saturday morning at 9:30 in the
Reinke Library of the Coker Building
the Board of Managers will meet. This
board is composed of a representative
of each of the subscribing colleges ^d
universities* This group of profession
al biologists, ilibject to the approval
of the Board of Trustees, formulates the
policies and plans for research programs
and the educational program conducted
for the layman. It also awards the
grants—in—aid for research and makes re—
