Isaac Crunkleton Passes
Services for Isaac Crunkleton, who
died Saturday, June 24, at a Haywood
County niirsing home, were held at 2:30
p,m* Sunday, June 25, in the Highlands
Methodist Church.
Mr. Crunkleton, 91, who had been ill
three months, was a lifelong resident of
Macon County and a son of the late J.A.
and Sarah Keener Crunkleton, He is sur
vived by 4 sons, 4 daughters, 2 sisters,
23 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchil
dren.
Rev. John C. Vemon* pastoi; and Rev*
J.H. Propst officiated at the services and
E^l, Ralph, P.A., Claude, Howard and Her
man Crunkleton served as pallbearers.
Burial was in the Highlands Cemetery.

PICNIC Cast Chosen
The cast for The Highlands Comnrunity
Theatre's first production of the 1961
season has been chosen and is in rehear
sal for its first performance, July 19th.
William Inge*s prize-winning Broadway hit,
PICNIC will open the local Playmaker*s
bill running for four nights-July 19, 20,
21 and 22.
Michele Wiedike of ^ringfield, Chio
will play the role of Madge, a yomg girl

INJURIOUS FALL
Mr. Ralph Wetmore, Sr. of Highlands
and Miami, Florida, sustained two broken
ribs and numeroiis bruises vfoen he fell
from a scaffolding on a roof, June 25th*
Mr. Wetmore was taken to The High
lands Commimity Hospital where he will
be a patient for about a week.

Steering Committee for a 10-year Develop
ment Program. Other members of the com
mittee are: Dr. H. R. Totten, Ifeiiversity
of North Carolina; Dr. EOLon E. ^yrd,
Itoiversity of Georgia; Dr. R. M. Sargent.
