Rummage Sale
There will be a rummage aede in the
Methodist Church basement Ftiday, Jijly
7 from 9:00 to 1:00,
Left overs from last week’s sale
will be greatly reduced for quick sale
this week and many other clothes and arti
cles have been added to the stock on
hand. New donations for the sale will be
welcomed by the sponsors of the sale,
the Women*s Society of C3hristian Service
of the Methodist Chruch,
DEATH--'TOH' CALLOWAY
Services were held yesterday, July
5th, at the Buck Creek Baptist Church
for James *Tom* Calloway of Highlands
who died Monday morning at 8:00 in his
home following a short illness. Rev.
Harold Cabe and Rev. Wiley McCall offici
ated at the 11:00 services V/ednesday*
Mr. Calloway, a life-long resident
of Macon County, is survived by the id-
dow, 2 sons, 2 daughters, 2 brothers,
one sister, 12 grandchildren, and 26
great grandchildren,
Leon, Morris, C. L* and N.C. Callo
way and Fl*ank and Sam Houston were pall
bearers and burial was in the church
cemetery at Buck Creek.
Benefit Bridge
Do you enjoy superb food, cards and
gay and stimulating companionship? You
do, good, for it was with you in mind
that the Benefit Bridge and Buffet Dinner
was planned. Each is an event unto it
self for you can come to dinner and not
stay for cards, or you can come for cards
v/ithout first ccaning to dinner. It is
hoped though that you will do both as to
gether they will make a wonderful evening.
The dinner and bridge will be at Lee*s
Inn and y±ll be on Thursday, July 13 for
the benefit of the Hudson Library. The
Inn will serve their famous buffet dinner
at 6:15. Gick Lee, the genial host, and

Why is the moon so fascinating? VJhy
does it hold spellbinding power over the
beholder? After all, it*s just a yellow
orb (with dark filigree patterns scatter
ed over it) floating in the depths of the
sky. Some people say it*s made of green
cheese, but I rather doubt that. Someday
I’ll take a week-end trip up there and
find out for sure.
Anyway, the moon, at least and especial
ly when it*s in the full quarter, does
hypnotize one. Last night I was watching
