% THE GALAX KEWS A13GUST 3, 1961 PAGE 22 (TRIBUTE CON*T) have had together there — and still dol Your kitchen is like you Mama - warm and friendly, I can never recall a time when you didn*t have something good cook ing in the oven* The sweet smell of fresh ly baked bread, the pungent odor of apple butter; your spicy baked beans fiH my memory and make my Hiouth water ^ til yetlJ Remember how years ago we used to have baked beans and brown bread every Saturday night? I would run all the way home from the library because I knew they would be ready when I got there. I pity any child who never sees his mother in the kitchen. My memories of you are all right there « always busy - kneading and rolling dough, trimming pie crusts with the back of a table knife, mixing batter, paring vegetables, testing jelly with a spoon - always busy - always working. You are so wonderful. Mama, that is why your house is always full of people. They love to come, and they go away away feeling better for having been in your presence. You are the very best tonic I could ever prescribe for any kind of ail- mentl So on this Mother* s Day I am thinking of you. I am so proud of you. Mama, there just could never be another so valiant as you. One would never know to look into your twinkling eyes that you had suffered heartache, and disappointment and sorrow, time and time again. I feel sure that even if you never had time to pray, you wouldn’t have any trouble getting into the Kingdom of Heaven, for God would only have to look at your hands to know that you had earned the right to be there. Indeed, I am sure that He would say. You are a lady and a Queen, Mama» and I love you, Sarah GUESTS AT KING'S INN Mrs. Sam McCarney, Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs, J, B, Ledgerwood, Knoxville, Tenn; m/m M^ a, Glinten, Walley, Ga,; M/M Leon Gouffer, Knoxville, Tenn,; Dr, F, L, Fort, Jacksonville, Fla,; M/M McKewen Love, Jr., Greensboro, N.
