After speaking at the annual dinner
session of the Franklin Chamber of Com
merce, Tuesday night, August 8, Governor
Terry Sanford came to the Highlands Country
Club to spend the night. He was accom
panied from Raleigh by the State Planning
Agent, Mr. W, C, VJhite.
At 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning the
Governor breakfasted with a group of men
from the area and discussed the proposed
extension of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the
improvement of Highway 64# Attending the
