Every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at Hotel Edwards LIONS CLUB; 1st and 3rd Thursday even ings at 7 p.m. at Hotel Edwards MASONIC LODGE: 1st and 3rd Friday even ings at 8 p.m. at the Masonic Hall EASTERN STAR; 2nd and 4-th Monday even ings at 8 p.m, at the 14asonic Hall BYERS STYLE CENTER OPENS The Byers Style Center, located on Main Street, opened last week for the season. This marks the l6th year Mr, and Mrs. J, P* Eiyers have operated their shop here in Highlands, Mrs. ^yers re ported that they opened two week earlier this year because of the demand for la dies* and mens* sportswear here. She alsc stated that a very successful season was anticipated, Mrs. Martha Crisp will help in the store this year. Various brand names carried in 5yers Style Center include; for the ladies, Dillager dresses, blouses, and sweaters, Weejuns loafers, Davey*s bags, London Fog rain coats, Gold Cup socks. Lady Jian- hattan dresses, blouses and skirts, and Gordon Ford shorts and slacks| for the men, Manhattan, London Fog jackets, Nanie Casual shirts, and a gift line. The Ejyers have a year around store in Ander son, S. C., and if you can*t find what you want here, it can be ordered from Anderson in a few days. Duke Student Arrives The student assistant for Highlands and Cashiers Methodist Churches, Mr. ' John E, Davis, Jr,, iriLll arrive on June 9th, and will hold his first service in Cashiers on Sunday June 10th, at 11 a.m, Mr, Davis is from Charlotte, N, C., and worked last summer at Bryson City for five weeks. He will spend ten weeks in Highlands and Cashiers, helping with the young people’s program and preach ing each Sunday in one of the two churches in turn. CAMP HIGHLANDER TO OPEN June 13th is set for the opening date for Camp Highlander. Boys frcsm six dif ferent state idll soon be arriving and many of the counselors are already here. The Camp is owned and operated by Mr* and Mrs. B. W, Wax and has been open every summer for the past several years. SATULAH CLUB MEETS The June meeting of the Satulah Club was held Monday afternoon, June 4-th, in the Hudson Library Annex with fifteen members and one guest present, A favorable report was given of the bake sale held May 26th, the proceeds amounting to over $28, A rummage sale was planned for early in September and members and friends of the Club ane a^ed to collect items for the sale. ^ Mr. Paul Seaton, who just completed his freshman year at the University of N, C., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.
