Graveside rites were held Saturday afternoon at 3*3^ in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, with the Rt, Rev* Samuel T, Cobb officiating. Bryant Funeral Home of Franklin, and Patterson Funeral Home of Atlanta were in charge of arrangements. the Primary work since it was begun by Mrs# Beatrice Rice some months ago# In the absence of Mrs, Rice, Mrs, Mehder has volunteered to serve as leader of the group# Mrs, Virginia Hardie and Miss Ann Harbison will begin July 1st as teachers of the Young Adults Sunday School Class for the remainder of the summer Sundays, ”We are quite fortunate in having such capable leadership for our Christian edu cation program," said Rev. McCall, who made the annoiincement. "It is good to know that Mrs. Mehder, Mrs. Hardie, and Miss Harbison will be in charge of this important work#" RESERVE THURSDAY NIGHT FOR HCH Please reserve Thursday, June 28, for your attendance at the Highlands Coow munity Hospital Fund Drive meeting. All would-be workers for the Drive and all those interested in the Drive are asked to attend this important meeting which will be held in the Highlands Methodist Church at 700 p,m. Bess Hines Harkins Returns Bess Hines Harking, who now makes her home in Oxnard, Calif#, has returned to Highlands with her two daughters to spend the remainder of the summer with her mother, Mr, J# H, Hines, The author*s first book of poems, SINaING OF THE HEART, was published under her maiden name, Bess Hinson Hines, It is saturated with the beauty and majesty of mountains and waterfalls and tinged with reverent awe for all beauty of na*. ture and spirit. Her more mature develop ment of recent years has brought many con- tacts with the outside world, but always her heart has been in the highlands and her steps have turned homeward,,, UNKNOWN SEAS is the most recent book of poetiy by Mrs. Harkins* JOINS CHRISTIAN EDUCATION WORK Mrs, Clyde Mehder is serving as leader of the Sunday evening Primary Fellowship at the First Presbyterin Church during the summer months, Mrs, Mehder has helped with HEAR Bishop Arthur J* Moore and Dr. Pierce Harris of Atlanta, Ga# July 2 to July 6——8:00 p#m# in The Highlands Methodist Church Highlands, N* C* Dr* Harry Armstrong, Music Director "COLONIAL PINES" "Lovely" is one word which accurately describes the new home of Mr. and Mrs# Earl Coal of St* Petersburg, Fla# The Coals, who have been coming to Highlands for over 18 yeears, bought the George Cleaveland home last fall, and since that time, the hoflse has undergone major chan^ ges and a complete face-lifting# The beautiful house and grounds, named "Colo nial Pines" ty Mr. Coal, will be open for guests this summer, beginning July 1* A more peifect spot with a cool, re freshing atmosphere and peaceful quiet ness is difficult to find so near town.
