CELEBRA TES BIRTHDA Y
Mr* Earl Coal celebrated his 74.th
birthday Sunday afternoon with a lovely
party given by his wife. The party,
which was a wonderful success, was at the
home of Mr* and Mrs* Coal, Colonloi Fined*
Over 25 friends attended the gathering.

The Wildcat Cliffs Country Club has
put up a Kentucky gate approximately 42
feet long at the entrance of the Club*
Ihe gate will close the road to everyone
except Club members and guests.
The golf driving range at the Club is
undergoing work and the range is expected
to near completion the latter part of
July.
THEATRE SUMMER SCHOOL OPEMS
The Highlands Ccamnunity Theatre be
gan its classes in its new schedule of
summer courses in Design, Acting, Pro
duction and History of the Theatre on Wed
nesday, June 27th. Classes for day stu
dents and resident apprentices will be
held in the rehearsal room at the Pierson
Inn annex and on the stage at the theatre
building on the hill behind the Post Office,
!Ihe first segment of study in the
newly inaugurated summer school began Wed
nesday at 9 a*m. under the guidance of
Morton Lewis of New York City. ^^* Lewis,
who has worked with the Senior Dramatic
Workshop in New York City, will supervise
the course in Acting Tech^ques basic
and iiE^rovisation classes*
"The course is designed to acquaint
the actor with the basic principles of
acting, beginning with elementary sensory
work on objects through advanced personal
sensory awareness leading to understanding
of emotion memory,” Mr* Lewis states* ”We
will begin with improvisational techniques^
two-person improvisations, which will give
the actor a concept of total awareness, an
awareness of ensemble performing and to
the knowledge that acting is a skilled
craft that must be studied in the same
manner as any other art form, such as mu
sic and dancing,” he continued*
Students enrolled in the summer ses
sion will be exposed to an intense resme
of all facets of theatrical production
from Designing for the stage to the execu
tion of scenic elementsi properties, cos-
tmes and the control of sound, light, and
general stage management* Throughout the
ten-week session there will be seminars
in make-up, business management, scene
