standing mezzo sorprano, who began her ca
reer vdth the Atlanta J^ymphony, will sing
Bach»s Cantata No. 53, "Schlage doch,
gewunschete Stunde” and Five songs of
William Elake by Virgil Thomson.
On Saturday evening, the second o|
four 1962 Brevard Music Center Young Ar
tists Award winners will be presented. He
is Denson KLliott, a senior at the Uni
versity of Alabama. Second place winner
in Birmingham Symphony auditions and a
frequent soloist with the University Sym^
phony, Mr# Elliott will play Rachmaninoff *s
piano Concerto No. 2 in " Minor.
Another week-end soloist will be
James Ceasar, formerly with the Cleveland
3yinphonjj Orchestra ajid now a professor
at Wichita University, He will also be
on the Fridqy evening program, playing
Mozart*s Violin Concerto, D Major, No, 4-
The Brevard Music Center ^mphony Orchestra,
conducted by Dr. James Christian Pfohl,
will play Overture to “The Marriage of
Figaro, '* to make it an entire Mozart
evening.
On Saturday evening, the Philharmcaila
Orchestra of the Advanced Division will
play Wagner^s Overture to ”Rienzl” and
4eihoven*s Symphony No« 3> E Flat Major,
Sunday*s orcheatral numbers will be
Bach*s Come Sweet Death, Erahams* Sym^-
phony No. 2 in D Major, and Till EXileiw
Spiegel by Richard Strauss*
Dr, Pfohl will conduct the Transyl
vania Symphony.

comedy in Technicolor with an all-star cast
will premiere Friday, July 13 at the GALAX
THEATRE,
Paramount* s film version of the Broad
way success stars Fred Astaire as Pogo Poole
a charming international playboy who doesn’t
know when to stop playing; Debbie Reynolds
as the daughter he hasn*t seen for fifteen
years, but vrtio wants him to attend her wed
ding to a wealthy young cattle breeder; Tab
Hunter as Debbie's fiance; and Lilli Palmer
as the mother and ex-wife, who doesn't quite
know how to warn her daughter against Pogo*s
contagious impracticality.
Gary Merrill appears as Debbie's bewil
dered step-father, and Charlie Ruggles re
peats his prizewinning Broadway role as be
mused and amusing Grandfather Savage,
The ensuing tug-of-war between Astaire
and the others leads everyone a merry chase
up and down the hills of colorful San Fran
cisco, where many of the scenes were actual
ly filmed. Featured in the story are such
landmarks as Fisherman's Warf, Golden Gate
Bridge, the Bay, Goat Island, International
Airport, Nob Hill, the cablecars, Grace Epis^
copal Cathedral, and I. Magin*s, where the
story opens as Debbie is being fitted into
a $4,000 wedding gown that she isn*t sure
she will ever wear.
The bridal outfit is the first in a
succession of more than fifty fashion styles
created for the Misses Reynolds and Palmer
by seven-time Oscar-winner Edith Head,
