The first Annual Square Dance Festival
is to be held at Helen’s Bam on Thursday,
August 2nd, The event is sponsored by the
Highlands Chamber of Commerce, and it is
hoped that the event •will become an out
standing annual affair.
The square dance contest will feature
the Smoky Mountain Cloggers, -who appeared
on Ed Sullivan^ s TV Variety Show a few years
ago. The first place prize winners will re
ceive $75 and $25 goes to the second place
winners. Any team that wishes to partici
pate may contact Highlands Chamber of Com
merce for details.
Door prizes totaling hundreds of dol
lars will be given away. In addition to
the square dance contest and drawing of
door prizes there will be a dance held for
everyone. Tickets may be purchased fr(m
Chamber of Commerce members or at the Cham
ber Office.

that it should be r* interesting event.
The Fair will oo held outdoors in
Highlands on August l?th and 18th# Fur

Tudor Hall’s office in Highlands,

tion of selected paintings on Saturday,
August 18th, at 3J00 p.m.

Mrs* Hbvrard D» Randall has made a gift
of two automatic oxygen tents in memory of
her husband^ Howard D« Randall# Ihese
tents will replace the very old modele. in
use which required constant refilling with
ice which was noisy and disturbing to pa
tients. The community should be grateful
for such fine equipment. The Hospital per-
sonel, and future patients needing oxygen,
will be extremely appreciative of this
memorial*
Sapphire Valley Inn has a French chef
who, wanting to contribute to the Hospital,
baked luecious looking- pecan roUs^ and a
huge loaf of German chocolate calce* These
will be used at tlge Hospital Bazaar by the
Methodist Church Women in the only Food
