Loan in 1946. Dot is a graduate of Kent
Place School in Summit, New Jersey, and
attended KLorida State College and the Child
Education Foundation in New York City, Hank
was graduated from Dartmouth College, taught
at Msrcerburg Academy, and served as Com
munications Officer on U#S.S. Eichenberger
(DE 202) in the Pacific with the rank of
Lieutenant. The Conkles* two children have
always helped them with the shop. Nancy was

The Woman *s Auxiliary of the Highlands
Community Hospital will hold a Bake Sale
and a Re-Sale of Bazaar items, on August
25, in the Brown*s Store building. Re-
Sale items will include things left over
from the Bazaar held earlier, as weifel as
a selection of lovely articles newly made*
This will be an excellent opportunity to
purchase that ’’special** hand-made gift.
Delicious, home-baked goods of all
kinds—breads, pies ^d pastries, cakes,
baked beans, etc.—will be on sale.
Proceeds will go to the Highlands
Conmiunity Hospital.

Last night, the Highlands Comniunity
theatre opened its third production of the
season, TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST MOON. This
howling hit kept the opening night audience
rooking with ecstatic and uproarious laughs
ter. The completely captivating show will
play for the remainder of the week, with
the curtain going up each night at 8:30 PM.

GORGE RESEARCH SUBJECT PANEL DISCUSSION
Bie research activities now being
conducted by biologists of the Highlands
Biological Station in the gorges of the
southeastern escarpment of the Blue Ridge
Mountains will be discussed at the Lfiiseum
of Natural History, August 23, at 8:00 P.M,
The program will be presented for the lay
man and it is open to the public without
charge.
Panelists idll include Dr. Thelma
Howell, Ejcecutive Director of the Station
