A- round 6:20, his parents, checked how he was getting along, missed him, and began look ing in the yard, up and down the street, and around the block. Having no results from the search, they phoned the police. The fire siren was sounded and approximate ly 50 people came to help loote for the lit tle boy. Mr. W, A* Emerson soon found him behind a neighbor's yard where weeds and grass had grown veiy tall, causing Daniel to lose his way. Rev. and Mrs. McCall were greatly re lieved to have him found, and expressed their gratitude to the many people for their help and concern. PANCAKE SUPPER SATURDAY NIGHT Saturday night is the evening for the Pancake Supper, sponsored by the Youth Fel lowship of the Methodist Ch\irch, Tickets are on sale now on main street—-$1.00 for adults and 50^ for children. Each ticket entitles the bearer to all the pancakes, sausage or bacon, butter and syrup, and coffee or milk he can eat. Supper time is from 5s00 to 8:00 p.m. in the basement of the Church. Proceeds from this supper will be used for the parsonage building fund of the Highlands Methodist Church. MINERAL SOCIETY CALLED MEETING A called meeting of the Highlands Mineral Society has been scheduled by Vice-President Tudor N. Hall. The meet ing will be held in the fellowship hall of the Episcopal Church on Friday evening, August iHh at 8 p.m. PRESBYTERIAN BAKE SALE Mark Saturday, August 18th on your calendar as the day to purchase delicious home-baked products at the bake sale spon sored by the Women of the First Presbyter ian Church. The sale will be held in Brown*s Store Building beginning at 9^00 a»m« The proceeds made at this sale will go to the Highlands Community Hospital. NANTAHALA FOREST ART FAIR^^l 7^18 The Nantahala Forest Art Fair will be held tomorrow and Saturday, August 17 and 18 in Brown’s Store Building* This af fair promises to be a profitable and enjoy able event. Several door prizes will be given away, including a water color by Ro bert Jarvis and a wood block print by Marjorie Obeme. The Fair will have some outstanding artistic work* Watch a fine painter do a water color demonstration Friday at 3500, and plan to attend the auction Saturday at 3s00 to secure a lovely piece of origi nal wDrk for your home.
