MacKAKIN SEEKS SOLUTION TO PROBLEM
Mrs. T, 0» MacKakin, of Sarasota,
Fla», and Highlands, has called the prob
lem of "stray" animkls of Highlands to the
attention of the public. Mrs. MacKakin
pointed out that many animals are homeless
and abandoned and seek shelter and food.
Ra*^r than ignore this problem, why not
do something about it? And something can
be done through interest and investigation
by the people of the Highlands area. A
special meeting will be held at Highlands
School on August 21st, at 10:30 a.m. Plan
to attend this meeting, and help solve the
problem of lost or wandering pets,
LEE^S INN EXPANSION PROGRAM
Twelve new cottage rooms, a conven
tion hall, dining room and kitchen reno
vation program have been planned for Lee*s
Inn and Motel.
Eight motel units, each with tile
bath, large  dressing room and furnished
with two double beds are now on the draw
ing board. Two cottages, each with fire
place in the sitting room, two bedrooms,
each with private bath and porch, will be
of interest to large families.
The new function room consisting of
1500 square feet will be an addition to
the Inn, Over this meeting room, new din
ing room facilities are planned. After
completion it will be possible to serve
360 persons at one time. This will be
attractive to convention groups.
Construction will start shortly
after Labor Day. It will be completed and
ready for use when the Inn opens on May I5
for the 1963 season.
The Inn will close on November 1st
this season,
