"TEAHOUSE OF THE AUGUST MOON"
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION
The Highlands Connmmity Theatre >s
presentation of '^Teahouse of the August
Moon” last week was one of the finest plays
of the season, with excellent actings ex^
oeptional set, and delightful entertain
ment.
Under the direction of Mr* Fred iMlen,
the play provided thorough enjoyment
throughout. The set itself was especially
a work of art and beauty. Certainly Mr.
Allen «out-did” himself in this piece of
work*
Morton Lewis touched the ^tickle box'*
of everyone in his portrayal of Sakini.
His performance was excellent, and his
■witty sayings will remain in everyone*s
mind for future enjoymeht.
Richard Melvin did a fine job as Cap
tain Plsby. The audience was delightfully
pleased with his acting, and his portrayal
of the frustrated Captain is to be commended,
Clyde Bolt, Jr. and his "what in the
name of occupation are you doing?” was
equally en3oyed--(C0N>T TO PAGE 17)

Presbyterian Young People
Present New Hymnals
Mr. Doyle Calloway, President of the
Senior High-Pioneer Group of the Plrst
Presbyterian Church of idghlands, pre
sented a new Presbyterian hymnbook to the
Pastor at the eleven o* clock worship ser
vice of August 19th* In making the pre
sentation, Mr* Calloway explained that
the youth group had purchased thirty-
five copies of The Hvrnnbook as a challenge
gift to the church* An annonymous contri
bution of one-hundred dollars for addi
tional books was made in response to the
young people*s challenge. The church
Session voted to provide the additional
amount of money required to conplete the
purchase of one hundred fifty copies of
the hymnbook, thus replacing con^letely
the old, worn hymnals the dbngregation
has been using for many years*
'•We are grateful for the interest
and initiative of our young people in
meeting this need," said Rev* McCall*
"Our old hymnals were badly worn and tom,
and we did not have enough of them* We
are most appreciative for the gift of the
beautiful new hymnbooks* Beyond this,
however, we are thankful for the whole
some concern and activity of our Seniors
and Pioneers in searching out a need with
in the chtirch, and then laboring so di
ligently to fill that need*"
