I can hardly believe this year makes
the sixth summer of my working on the GA
LAX 1®WS, I remember starting out in 1958
with so little knowledge about what I would
be required to do, and less, how to do it,
I wonder if that is how Mrs, Mary Summer
Korman might have felt 12 years ago when
she began to publish this paper? But Mary
has always seemed to me a most efficient
person, and it was she who started the GA
LAX NSV\iS in 1951* with, I might add, much
success. Apparently, the newspaper caught
the eye of other newspaper people, for, in

PREPARE FOR A BIG HOSPITAL
BAZAAR JULY 26 ^ 27
This yearns Hospital Bazaar may be
the biggest yeti All organizations in
town are taking part. The Bazaar, to be
held July 26-27, will take place in the
Brownes Store building. The Hospital
Auxiliary will sponsor a booth with such
items for sale as hand-made baby pillows,
felt school satchels for children, hot
pad covers, and many other attractive
items. Four bake sales are being given
by the Presbyterian Church; the Eastern
Star will sponsor a food sale; a miscel
laneous food and item booth will be the
project of the Methodist Church; the Epis
copal Church will sell miscellaneous ar
ticles; as last year, there will be a
merchant*s booth; a food booth is plan
ned by the Baptists; the Satulah Club will

SENATOR W, FRANK FORSYTH TO BE HONORED
Senator W, Frank Forsyth, outstand
ing business and civic leader of western
North Carolina, will receive a Citation
of Merit for distinguished sei^ce from
the Highlands Biological Station at its
annual meeting June 30# at 4:30 p.m. in
the Museum Building.
Over a period of many years. Senator
Forsyth has been interested in the role
of the Highlands Biological Station in the
higher education picture of North Carolina,
particularly in the phases of the research
needed by graduate students in their pur
suit of advanced degrees. He has long
