GRANT m HIGHLANDS Mr, Tom L, Mallonee, 11th Congress ional District Secretary to Congressman Roy A, Taylor, was greeted Monday morning by the Highlands Towi Board members. The Board expressed appreciation to both Mr, Mallonee and Congressman Taylor for their help in securing the $311,000. grant made available to Highlands, The grant, given by the Area Redevelopment Administration, will provide $126,000, for the accelerated public works program. The Town is eligible to borrow an additional $185,000« in public facilities funds thr&ugh the community facilities administration* The funds will be used to improve the Town*s water and sewer facilities. Plans call for additions to both systems including construction of a new filter plant* EPISCOPAL SILVER TEA JULY 11th The Annual Silver Tea of the Episco pal Church will be held this year at the charming home of Mr. and Mrs. John Tucker Hall in Laurel Hill, via Webbmont, Plan to attend this outstanding event of the summer season-—July 11th from 4 to 6 pm« J[ ^ IL I. K R A L. Il 1. The first of several youth rallys being sponsored jointly by the Episcopal, Methodist, and Presbyterian churches this summer will be held Sunday, June 30th. The local youth groups of the three churches are inviting high school and college young people who are visiting in Highlands to meet them at 4:00 p.m. in front of the Presbyterian Church. The afternoon^ s activities will in clude a swimming party, a picnic supper, and a vesper service, (If it is raining or if there is dense fog in the Highlands area as late as 2s00 p.m. Sunday after noon, the youth rally will begin at 5^00 instead of ^:00 in the Fellowship Hall of the Presbyterian Church.) The young people will hold their rally at a private lake to which they have been invited by the owners, Mr. and Mrs, Overton S* Chambers. ~it - WOOD tNg\g&0T amnounc^o Mr. and Mrs. F, T. Gardner of High lands announce the engagement and forth coming marriage cf their daughter, Terry Leann, to Larry Lean Wood, son of Mrs. Floyd Orai^, also of Highlands, and the late Et:^ene C, Wood. The wedding will take place in the First Presbyterian Church of Highlands, August the 24th at ?;00 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to the wedding and reception which will follow immediate ly in the Church basement* The couple will make their home in Virginia where the groom is employed.
