THE GALAX THEATRE AUGUST 29, 1963 PAGE 20 ("SODOM & GORORRAH" CON*D FROM PAGE I9) releasing* In the film, Stewart Granger stars as Lot» who leads the Hebrews into the Valley of the Jordan and into Sodom; Pier Angeli plays Ildith, Lot*s wife who turns into a pillar of salt; Stanley Baker por trays Astaroth, Prince cf Sodom; Rossana Podesta is Shuah, Lot*s daughter; and Anouk Aimee is Bera, the pleasure-mad Queen of Sodom. A startling feeling of reality was gained by more than 100 days on location in Morocco out of the eleven months re quired to film this spectacular produc tion. The City of Sodom, as seen in the picture, is actually a fortified desert village carved out of rock some 4000 years ago on the southern slopes of the Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco. This was Ait-Benhaddou, a living setting right out of the Old Testament, untouched in the film except for a towered wall built at the foot of the town to serve as the en trance to .Sodom. "Sodom and Gomorrah” will be run once only each night starting at 7*30. It is not recommended fnr children.
