Both groups are widely known through out the southeast due to their club, civic, school organizations, and television ap pearances, Included in THE i^'iOUNTAIN CITI SINGERS are Stan Robingson and Danny Smith. Stan has been recording records for the past six years, Danny has worked with the Macon Folk Festival, the Atlanta Folk Festival and the Grand Ole Opera. They have made many appearances together in cluding appearances at the Golden Horn in Atlanta, the Folk Singers Coffee House in Miami, Fla,, and numerous colleges and night clubs, THE TOUCHSTONES, from Greenville, S, C., who appear quite frequently on WFBC- TV*s ’’Telescope" and "Shindy” programs, sing the classical ballads of England, Scotland, and Ireland and American songs of mountain, western, and Negro origin. TR-iij TCUCHSTONiS have appeared in the Green ville area in numerous clubs, colleges and festivals. They have also appeared at The Dunes, at Myrtle Beach, S. C., Clemson Col lege, The Clemson House, The Pecan Grove in Charlotte, N, C,, and the Starlight Concert with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra in Atlanta, Included in the group are Linda Jones, vocalist, Steve Gibbs, Hank Parks, who contributes a thorough know ledge of musical instruments and theory to the group, and Tom Young, spokesman for the group. Completing the program will be THE HIGHLAi'iDERS of Asheville, N. C, and Nick Hallman of Greenville, S, C« THE HIGH LANDERS include; Bill Horton, a 20 year old junior at Wake Forrest College? Nel son Watts, a junior chemistry major who is headed for medical school at UNO; Bob Hinkle will enter UNO in the fall with studies aimed toward a degree in law, THE HIGHLANDERS have appeared at the Swiss Chalet in Winston-Salem, N. C, and appear in a series of hootenannys which they started in Asheville, Nick Hallman, an English teacher from Greenville, S, C, completes the program of ten performers who will be appearing in "SUMMER HOOTENANNY *63" Friday and and Saturday at the matinee and night performances, Nick, 24, a native of At lanta, Ga,, is a graduate of Furman Uni versity. He has played the guitar for twelve years and also enjoys the mando lin, banjo, and bass. He prefers the older, traditional folk songs and occa sionally uses uses his five year old son while perfoming.
