PRESBYTERIANS BEGIN BUILDING
Work is now under way on the new
Christian Education-Church Activity Build
ing of the First Presbyterian Church.
Highlands builder, James Donald Keener
had his men and equipment out on the job
early Monday morning, and remarkable pro
gress is in evidence already.
The new building is to be a two-
story, brick veneer structure with ap
proximately four thousand feet of floor
space. The completely fire proof build
ing will be located near the Fifth Street
property line of the church property about
mid-way between the Main Street and the

HIGHLANDS COMMUNITY THEATRE BEGINS TWENTY-
FIFTH SEASON
The Highlands Community Theatre will
begin its twenty-fifth season on Wednes
day, July 8th, at 8:30 p*m, with the Bre
vard Center Sinfonietta, This full cham
ber orchestra will be conducted by Mr,
James Yestadt, musical director of the
Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Tickets for
this one night only performance will be
on sale Monday, July 6th, at the down
town box office on West Main Street,
Ticket prices are $2,00 and $2,50, The
down town box office will be open from
10:00 a.m, to 4:00 p,m, the three days
prior to the concert or Patron reserva
tions may be made by calling the theatre

GALAX NEWS REGEIVES AWARD
ANNUAL MEETINGS HELD AT H B S
At the annual meeting of the member
ship of the Highlands Biological Station,
held on June 24th, the GALAX NEWS was a-
warded a Citation of Merit for distin
guished and meritorious service to this
Station, In presenting the award. Dr,
James Hardin, President of the Corporation,
stated: ”The GALAX NEWS, founded in 1952,
has been most generous in keeping the High
lands area informed as to the activities,
programs, and special events of the Station,
For those efforts in behalf of the Staticn,
this CITATION OF MERIT is awarded with
