MUSEUM CLOSES AUGUST 29th
Saturday at 5:00 P, M. the Museum of
Natural History will close for the season.
Nature study classes, the lecture series,
and field trips for adults have been con
cluded, Children and staff members are
returning to school and college.
The various activities at the Museum
have been accepted with acclaim and well
attended. The Museum Committee is to be
congratulated on the programs planned for
this summer.
Although several investigators at the
Laboratory will be in residence through
September, the dining hall will close on
September 5th,

JAMES NEWTON JOINS FACULTY AT
HIGHLANDS SCHOOL
Principal Charles Hendrix announced
Tuesday that Mr* James Nevrfcon va.ll join
the faculty of Highlands School* Mr* New
ton v/ill be teaching the eighth grade and
ninth grade general science,
James is a graduate of the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill \iTith a
B, S, Degree in chemistry* He is a 1959
graduate of Highlands School where he was
an honor student.
LIBRARY MEETING
A meeting of the membership of the
Hudson Library will be held at the Library
on Monday afternoon, August 31st, An
amendment to the constitution will be
voted upon and officers for the coming
year are to be elected#
SQQARE DANCE Fii'STIVAL WINNERS NAMED
Approximately 5OO persons attended
the Square Dance Festival held last Thurs
day evening at the Highlands School gym.
Participating dance teams gave excellent
performances. Those judged winners by
Mr, Bud Potts, Mr, Dewey Hopper, and Mrs,
Martha Goode were the T, C, Roberson
Team from Asheville for first place; the
Haywood Hillbillies of Waynesville were
