NATURE STUDY CLASSES BEGIN JUNE
22nd at museum
The Nature Study Classes, sponsored
by the Highlands Biological Station, will
begin the week of June 22, The following
schedule will continue through August 24:
Tuesday, 10:00-11:30, 6-8 age group; Wed
nesday, 10:00-12:00, 9-11 age group; Thurs
day, 10:00-12:00; 12-14 age group*
The 12 through 14 age group will be
working on problems concerned with plant
and animal identification, and will in
volve both field and laboratory work. Since
this group is usually small, a limited
humber of interested adults may attend,
but to receive the maximum benefit attend-
ance should be regular throughout siMiner,

Children who attend the Highlands
School will have free registration. Each
member of the Highlands Biological Sta
tion will be allowed one free registra
tion - child or adult. All others will
be charged fifty cents per class or two
dollars for the summer period.
Dr, Malvina TrusseH, Counselor of
Nature Study, has planned a sequential
program and urges parents to see that
their children attend each class period.
HENRY L. WHITMIRE DIES
Mr. Henry Logan Whitmire, aged 51#
died at the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital
early Wednesday morning. He was the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. G, M, Whitmire,
of Cornelia, Ga, Mr. Whitmire was a
member of the Highlands Baptist Church,
where he served as deacon, a member of
the Blue Ridge Masonic Lodge, Number 435t
and the owner-operator of Kalmia Court,
The funeral, with Masonic honors,
will be at the Highlands Baptist Church
Thursday, June 10th (today) at 2:30 p.m.
Members of the Masonic Lodge will serve
as pall bearers, Intennent will be in
the Highlands Cemetary, and Rev, L. C.
Pinnix will officiate at the service.
Cannon*s Funeral Home, of Clayton, Ga.,
is in charge of arrangements. In lieu
of flowers, the family has requested that
donations be made to the Highlands-Cash
lers Hospital or to the Children's Clinic,
Survivors include the wife, Ednaj
three daughters, Margaret Susan, Eddie
Lee, and Lisa Kay; an aunt, Mrs. Hanna
Long; and cousins, Mr, and Mrs, Curtis
Blackmon.
EPISCOPAL CHURCHWOMEN SPONSOR
HIGHLANDS DAY CAMP
The Episcopal Church Women recently
announced plans for the Highlands Day
Camp, A diversified program, which in
cludes recreation, arts and crafts, trips
and hikes (such as to the Biological Mu
seum and Yellow Mountain), and of course
the opportunity for youngsters to meet
and make new friends, accept new respon
sibilities and team play.
The Camp has an ideal setting which
affords pleasant surroundings for the
