Throughout July and August the Theatre will continue to bring to Highlands some of the best regional fare in theatre and music, Mr, Fred Allen commented Tuesday that the Community Theatre will present plays like ”The Boyfriend," "Champagne Complex," "Marriage Go * Round," "Rattle of a Simple Man," and "Never Too Late." The opening performance, Thursday evening, July 15th wiH be a concert by th@ Brevard Music Center Sinfonietta, conducted by Henry Janiec, Mr. Janiec is the Artistic Director of Brevard Music Center and Head of the Music Department at Converse College, Spartanburg, S, C, The concert will begin at 8:30, and will be presented on Thursday evening only. First tryouts for the summer will be on Wednesday, July l4th. They will be held at the Theatre at 8:30 p* m* persons who are interested in acting should regis ter at the Theatre between now and the I4th in order to check out books and scripts. The Theatre is open daily every afternoon from one until five. HOSPITAL RECEIVES $147 THOU SAND GRANT A grant of $146,850 was approved in Washington last Wednesday by the Depart ment of Health, Education, and Welfare to assist in the construction of an additicn to the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital Uth District Rep. Roy A, Taylor announced. The grant is being made available under the Hill-Burton Act, which provides matching money for hospital construction. The new wing will provide nineteen long- term-care beds and expansion of the hos pitals* s ancillary facilities. Total cost of the project is esti mated at $287,015, The amount the state will provide is $70,488 and the local amount is $49*662.
