Rev. Penny will deliver the message at the eleven o*clock worship service on Sunday, June 26th. He has been pastor of the Acton Methodist Church, in the Asheville Dis trict • Rev. and Mrs. Vance Davis, who have been in Highlands for two years, plan to leave on June 21st. They will visit re latives during the summer, and in Septem ber Mr. Davis will begin work on a P.H.D. degree in Ethics at Drew University in I^dison, New Jersey. Mrs. Davis has been employed as a teacher of typing and bookkeeping in Highlands High School during the past school term. The Davises have made many friends in Highlands who will regret to see them jjiove. NEW SPORTING GOODS SHOP On "Drug Store Hill”, a new shop has been opened by Mr. Charles Herold of Fort lauderdale, Florida, and the shop is respectively known as "Herold‘s'*. The shop is to be principally run by Ifr. Herold’s son, Dick, and his friend, Fred Fox. Dick attends Duke University, and Fred attends Miami-Dade Jr. College, The shop carries a large variety and selection of men*s and women* s sportswear by Jantzen.Catalina, and many other well known names. Also featured is a very complete line of weather in struments—barometers, clock combina tions, and others. Gift items of any kind can also be found, many with the nautical accent. For those on the go, and who like the water, water skiis of all sizes and prices are available. And for those people idiose idea lOf .perfect recreation is an afternoon of lazy fish ing, fishing boats and canoes and be acquired. At the present time, Ifr. Herold is comten5)lating offering fishing boats for rent on a weekly or monthly basis in the near future. T, L. TOLAR GETS IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT Last week, Mr. Tom L« Tolar, of 205 East Rice Street, Latta, South Carolina, was appointed an International Executive Service Corpsman to serve the United States in technical capacities in devel oping foreign countries, lESC was established in 19^3 t>y the President to recruit the best minds in the U. S, A. for this purpose. To date, the directory shows the recruiting of about ^00 such minds. Mr. Tolar is a former principal of the Highlands Schools.
