SERIES AT MUSEUM TODAY
Dr, Malvina Trussell, a summer resi
dent of the Horse Cove coinraunity, will
open the 1967 season of the Highlands
I^seum of Natural History at three otelock
today (July 13) with a demonstration of
’’Gifts J%de from Natural Ifeterials”,
Dr, Trussell will show some of the
crafts which have been made by the resi-
derrbs of Horse Cove community this sum
mer which will be featured at the annual
hospital bazaar on July 28th and 29th,
These include a terrarium and dish gar
den, candle holders and wreaths, waste
paper baskets, sachets and permanent

BUSINESS LEADERS HEAR REPORT CN
HOSPITAL FUND DRIVE TO BEGIN
NEXT WEEK
At a dinner meeting at Highlands
Country Club Monday evening a group of
business leaders were briefed on the
operation of Highlands-Cashiers Hospital
by the Board of Trustees. The committee
heard a report of operational expenses
of the hospital during the past year.
Also heard was a report on the pro;)ected
cost of running the hospital for the
coming year.
Chairman of the Board A. S, Happoldt
stated it would be necessary to raise
this year as much money as last year in

MAJ. G. D. S. GLARE SON, PIONEER
DEVELOPER, DIES
I%jor Charles D. S, Clarkson, a
well known and popular resident of High
lands, died here July 11th at his resi
dence, He was 85 years old.
Major Clarkson was one of the pio
neer developers of scenic property in
the Highlands area, particularly of land
in the vicinity of X''Jhiteside Mountain
and also of sites overlooking Blue Val
ley, (>jing to his engineering ability,
his skill as a landscape architect and
his imgination, he made available build
ing locations which today are occupied
