I^EKDAY SERVICES Weekday services henceforth will, normally, be on Thursday mornings, when ]Hbrning Prayer is read at 9ik$ and the Holy Eucharist offered at 10. This Thurs day and next, however, the rector will be away from toxm, attending diocesan meet ings, and so the services will have to be omitted. They may be placed on the alms bason at Sunday service, or mailed to MLss Caroline Hall at the Pirst Union National Bank in Highlands. HIGHLAND S^-CASHIERS HOSPITAL NEWS Mr* A* S. Happoldt, Chairman of the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital board of trustees, announced this week that the Hospital Fund Drive has now passed the $40^000 mark, Mr. Don Yates, hospital administra tor, expressed the gratitude of the hospital to the Gray Ladies for all of their time and effort they have contri buted to the hospital. Yates com mended them on a wonderful job done and expressed hopes that the program will continue throughout the year. TWO HAG ON MEM GIVEN APPOINTMENTS BY GOVERNOR Three appointments this past week from the office of Gov. Dan K. Moore will be of particular interest to peo ple in Jfecon County. Two appointees E. J. I'lJhitmire, of Flpanklin, and Edward Potts, of Highlands, are Macon County men. The third, Tom L. lyiallorifie, is well known throughout the area as secretary of Congressman Roy A. Taylor. Ih this capacity, Jfe.lon- ee visits here at least once a month and is well known throughout the area. ¥ir^ Whitmire was reappointed by Gov, Mjore to the Board of Trustees of Western Carolina University for a term expiring June 30, 1975* He was first appointed to the Board by Gov. Kerr Scott and has served under four govern ors. ]y&?. B»tts was appointed to be a member of the North Carolina National Park, Parkway, and Forest Development Commission.
