CAST IN "BAREFOOT IN THE PARK"
"Barefoot in the Park" is the title
of the long-run Broadiiray comedy hit com
ing to the Highlands Community Theatre
on July 11th for a four-day run. "Bare
foot in the Park" was so popular in
New York that it attracted long lines
of ticket buyers for over three years
and caused people to queue up for over
a year in Chicago and for con^arably
long periods elsewhere. In New York
people were glad to get tickets as far
as five months in advance. The demand
put the comedy*s tickets in the class
with Fair Lady" at its height.
Kitty Bryan is leading the cast of
the Neil Simon comedy at the Highlands
Community Theatre, as a matron of pro
nounced ladylike gentility who gamely
tries not to appear too startled by the
whacky domestic arrangements of her new
ly married daughter. (CONTINUED ON p. 15)
"THE GOOD OLE DAYS RETURN"
One of the people*s favorite pas
times has always been the reminiscence
of the "good ole days". Children and
grandchildren have always enjoyed hear
ing the stories of days gone by almost
as much as parents and grandparents have
enjoyed telling them. I'ilhat could be
more interesting than listening to
Grandpa tell about the time he and Uncle
Josh walked twenty-five miles. • . or
the time old man Troy climbed to the top
of... unless it would be actually re
living those good days,
Wouldn*t it be great to see High
lands turned back to the days of coon
skin caps and homespun, beards and long
dresses, horses and wagons, corn cob
pipes and lemonade, a good old fashioned
square dance and the best fiddle playin*
in the mountains?
Well, that*s what you*re gonna see
on July 25th, right here in Highlands,
YepJ Hillbilly Day*s a comin*, so get
grandpa, grab you a corn-cob pipe, and
start growin' that beard. (And don’t
forget your bonnet!)
