It has been said that opera belongs
to everyone. The Saturday afternoon
broadcasts and the spread of good, re
cordings have greatly widened its audi
ence. Its appeal knows no age limit5 it
is a universal art.
Nox^, the stories of the operas come
from many places and from many periods in
history. Some are legends, some are
tales of the jyBLddle Ages, others are
from modern sources - short stories,
novels, and plays. But whatever the
source, sooner or later each libretto
finds itself on the road to Nashville -
Nashville, Tennessee, the operatic cen

ANNUAL SILVER TEA FRIDAY
On Friday, July 12, the annual
Episcopal Silver Tea will be held at the
home of and I^frs. G. M. T. Jenks,
from 3 until 5 P.in* The public is
cordially invited to attend.
The Jenks residence, high on little
Yellow Mountain, was designed and land
scaped by and Mrs. Jenks, and com
mands an unexcelled view of the Country
Club grounds. Lake Sequoyah, the town
of Highlands, and Inlhiteside and Yellow
>buntains •
Guests are asked to park their
cars at the Episcopal Church, where
transportation will be provided to and
from the tea, since parking space at
the Jenks residence is limited..
Hostesses for the tea will be l^Snes.
