PROFOUND EXPRESSION

Being only a lad then, hoT«7 could I
knoxT? canary had died, and there
hung the cage, of no use except to re
mind me of that one sad fact. I loved
that bird. The rambling porch, extending
the entire length of the house, was an
ideal place for the cage to hang - free
from the rain, but with just enough sun
shine to make an inviting atmosphere.
But - the cage was empty.
Away I ran to check on my rabbit
gum. Every boy had a rabbit gum* Caught
some too. Finding the trigger tripped
and hastening to view my catch, I turned
the trap on end to keep my prize from
escaping when I opened the door. There
it was - no rabbit - but a young mocking
bird that had evidently taken shelter
from an afternoon shower. Yes, I had a

sion is 50^, and children under 12 are
admitted free. Those who wish to guess
on the items may not wish to enjoy the
fine arts and so may buy a 250 guessing
sheet. The person getting the most items
right (first) will be given a $5.00
prize. The winner will be announced next
week.
Hospital Auxiliary Meeting
Today
The regular meeting of the Highlands'
Cashiers Hospital Auxiliary will be
today, August 1st, at Is30 a.m. in the
Recreation Room of the hospital. All
members are asked to attend.
